What technology do I need to host a virtual session?

This article describes what technology is needed to host a virtual session.

Thanks to advances in today's technology, very little is needed to host your virtual sessions!  Below is a list of hardware and software needed to connect with your clients virtually.

Hardware

Video-Conferencing Device - Your best bet here is going to be a portable laptop, due to the larger screen size which allows you to view your clients form and give feedback as well as view multiple clients in small group sessions.  Laptops, tablets, and smartphones are considered video-conferencing machines because they provide an all-in-one solution and often have built in cameras and microphones.  You may also use a desktop PC with an external camera and microphone.

Webcam or Camera - A high definition external camera or webcam is going to give you a much better video quality than the typical built in camera, and is highly recommended. Logitech HD Pro C920 earned best overall webcam of 2018 on toptenreviews.com.  You will also get a wider view with an external camera which allows you to work closer to your device, and your clients to see more of you when you are demonstrating an exercise.

External Microphone - Again, an external microphone is going to give you a better audio quality and ensure that your clients can hear you coaching them.  You may want to opt for a wireless headset that can easily move around with you, just make sure that it's able to deliver instant connectivity and cancel any background echos.

Large monitor or television screen (optional) - If available, you may consider using an HDMI cable to connect your video-conferencing device to a larger screen such as a smart TV.  This will allow you to get a much better view of your clients form and progress.  Keep in mind if you do this, that your video feed will still be coming from your video-conferencing device, so you will need to adjust the camera angle accordingly.

Software

Broadband Connection - gymGO provides the video-conferencing software, so you just need to make sure you have a strong internet connection!  In order for the best quality connection and low lag between communications, a high-speed connection is a must.  DSL and cable connections are great options.

Safari Is Required If You Are Using An iPhone Or iPad
This goes for both you and your clients. If you are on an iPhone or iPad you must use the latest Safari browser to access the virtual training.

Most Browsers Work If You Are On A Desktop Computer Or Laptop
If you are using a computer or laptop, all of the most common browsers work.  Feel free to use Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera or Edge.  Chrome is usually the most stable so we currently recommend using it if you are on a computer.

Chrome Or Firefox If You Are On Android 4.1+
If you are using an Android operating system like for the Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel we require that you use Chrome or Firefox for the virtual streaming.

Okay, so now that you know what you need, what are you waiting for!  Once you have everything ready, you can create your first virtual session and test it out!
